5 Factor Diet

The 5 factor diet gained it’s name because most of the methods it employs can be easily broken down into 5 segments, and/or require doing something in a number divisible by 5. While this may seem odd to some people, the 5 factor diet has no roots whatsoever in either a psychological hang up with the number 5 or any mystic significance. Instead, it was devised by a fitness trainor for actors and actresses who had to tailor his diet and fitness plan for them around their schedules - which often involved 5 breaks in a day on the set. Surprisingly, the system that resulted was a diet method that is extremely effective and requires little effort on the part of the dieter.

5 Weeks to Get Results

On the average, the 5 factor diet was able to show positive results in anything from a month to a month and a half after the dieter started it, making it 4 to 6 weeks; so it averages at 5 weeks to show results. After noticing this, the inventor of the system decided to formalize a diet plan covering exactly 5 weeks. At the end of that week, the dieter simply repeats the routines involved in the 5th week program to act as maintenance.

Instead of eating three full meals a day, the 5 factor diet relies on smaller meals spaced at shorter intervals. The dieter takes 5 meals a day, and these meals are relatively small but packed with nutrients that enhance the dieter’s energy rather than sapping it. There are a lot of recipes on the diet and on the average the meals take 5 minutes to prepare. They also contain 5 different types of food from the different nutritional groups that, taken together over the course of the day, gives a balanced diet. The main reason for the fast and simple preparation time is that the break times on the movie sets were short and the trainer had to make do with any food readily available. This makes the diet plan pefect for people who are extremely busy and don’t have the time to cook elaborate meals or gather exotic ingredients.

5 Workouts a day

Along the same lines as spacing meals, the fitness method employed by this diet plan does not require taking long, tiring trips to the gym. Using simple stretching and calisthenics exercises, a person can stay fit by exercising 5 times a day in short 15 to 25 minute workouts. This keeps the body from getting tired, which is the common result of long extended exercise bouts. The short bursts of exercise simply act as warm ups and maintenance for the rest of the dieter’s regular activities.

5 Days Off from the Diet

Lastly, the 5 factor diet allots 1 day off every week in the 5 week plan for the dieter to gorge on anything he or she wants to - from pizza to beer to donuts. Basically, the psychology behind this is that the “day off” acts as a reward system for the dieter’s good behavior. It’s human nature to try and cheat any system, so the stricter diet plans which discourage any sort of deviation from the prescribed food often leads to dieters sneaking snacks at every opportunity. This “day off” prevents that little problem.
