What is The Abs Diet?
The Abs Diet is based on the 12 Power Foods that are integrated into 6 small-portioned meals that should be eaten two hours apart.  The meals consist of breakfast, lunch and dinner with 3 small snacks.  The main meals should include a minimum of 3 Power Foods and snacks should have a minimum of one. 

The Abs Diet was designed by David Zinczenko, an editor of Men’s Health Magazine.  This diet is nutrition-based and is intended to be part of a lifestyle change.  According to Zinczenko, the Abs Diet is so effective it can produce visible results in only 6 weeks.  The Diet is combined with an exercise program that assures users will help them get a flat, muscular tummy.  Zinczenko claims his Abs Diet is scientifically proven to trim fat, help you lose weight and get you the flat tummy you’ve always wanted.

The 12 Power Foods
You might be surprised to find that the 12 Power Foods that Zinczenko claims make his Abs Diet effective are actually natural, regular food items that can be easily included in a diet plan.  These include:

- Extra virgin olive oil
- Turkey and other lean meats (beef, chicken and fish)
- All natural peanut butter
- No sugar instant oatmeal
- Whole grain cereals or bread
- Protein powder (whey)
- Fat-free or low fat dairy
- Eggs
- Legumes and beans
- Almonds (other nuts allowed)
- Green vegetables
- Berries (raspberries top the list)

These 12 Power Foods are also eaten along with other foods that are categorized as ‘eat often’ and ‘eat occasionally’. 

How The Abs Diet will give you a flat tummy
Diet will help you trim the excess fat off your waistline and shave some excess bulge in your stomach area.  However, some fatty areas in the middle part of the body are impossible to remove without resorting to exercise.  This is why The Abs Diet incorporates an exercise program along with a meal plan, so muscles are built and strengthened in order to replace fat in the stomach area. 

So will you get a flat tummy with The Abs Diet?
The Abs Diet attempts to cover all areas that contribute to the accumulation of fat in the stomach area.  The intake of certain foods such as light butter, lasagna, beer and margarine, for example, is regulated and spread out over a period.  Fiber and good oils are also used to provide high energy to encourage a stronger and faster metabolism.  All in all, these contribute significantly to helping users of this diet lose weight and get a flat tummy.  That is, provided the Diet is used regularly.

An advantage of The Abs Diet is that it is not thoroughly restrictive.  You still get to eat certain foods that other diets usually discourage, such as chocolate, lunchmeat, ham, lamb and game, as long as you control the portions.  However, like all diets, you will have to use The Abs Diet as part of your regular meal and exercise program, not just as a fad diet or some emergency measure you have to do just to lose a few pounds for a special occasion.  It is also quite safe to use.
