The Master Cleanser Lemonade Diet
This is an old but extremely effective cleansing diet. Unlike other diet programs, it’s primary goal is not to help people lose weight, but rather to cleanse their bodies of impurities which often lead to sickness. As a matter of fact the cleansing diet actually DOES help people going through it to lose weight rapidly (up to 2 pounds a day!) but this is more of a side benefit.
The basic theory behind the lemonade diet is simple: for ten days, you don’t eat anything at all, and you just drink a lot of special lemonade made up of freshly squeezed lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup. Twice a day you also take laxatives to help your body get rid of it’s excess wastes. The ten day fasting and lemonade period is the average time for this diet; however, it can be safely extended for up to a period of one month maximum.
The lemonade mix is designed to allow you to fast successfully for the ten days required by the cleansing diet. The lemonade and cayenne pepper are both strong detoxifiers, while the lemonade in tandem with the maple syrup both provide enough vitamins and assorted nutrients to keep you energetic despite the lack of solid food. This mixture is NOT intended to be a substitute for real, solid food. It is simply there to clean your body of harmful substances and keep you from starving to death while going through the detox phase.
Over the course of the ten day period, the body will rapidly go through quite a few changes. The amount of discomfort a dieter experiences will be based on his or her relative lifestyle before beginning the diet. The lemonade in the blood stream, combined with a lack of solid food, can lead to any number of discomforts like diarrhea, severe flatulence, coughing out large amounts of mucus, and throwing up. This is because the body is getting rid of all the “bad junk” that’s accumulated in it throughout the years. Basically, the more unhealthy your lifestyle was before taking the diet, the more bad stuff you’ll have getting kicked out of you.
However, once the toxins have begun to get flushed out of the system, dieters mostly attest to a higher state of well being as a result of this diet. Their senses get sharper, they feel more energetic, less lethargic, their joints become more ambulatory, and their reflexes and endurance both improve. Some dieters even actually become revolted by the taste and smell of some of the “unhealthy” things they used to like before taking the cleansing diet, like fatty and heavily salted food, beer, or cigarette smoke.
This distaste is because the body, once cleansed, naturally recognizes the things which made it unhealthy to begin with and rejects them now that it’s running cleaner. Once the diet has run it’s course, the dieter is left with a body in better condition. However, would-be weight loss dieters should be advised that the diet is NOT for weight loss, as stated earlier. It is for cleansing, and anyone going through this diet should be aware that despite the body’s rapid weight loss during the cleansing period, around half of the weight lost due to the master cleanser lemonade diet WILL come back rapidly once you start taking solid foods again.
